Credentialed Online Courses

Although Live Training is the most effective method of teaching, it isn’t the most efficient — either for the instructor or for the students.

Instructors generally like to keep classes under 25 students (or even less due to certification issues) which limits the number of students they can teach each year — and students have the added expense of time away from work, travel, hotel and food.

Also, live training generally means attending courses close to home — which can sometimes mean compromising on instructor quality.

In contrast, Online Training is extremely efficient. Once the course is produced, there is no limit in the number of students who can take a course and it can be taken from the comfort of one’s own home, at the student’s own pace.

The two problems with online courses in that past is that they were boring (due to heavily texted-based content) and valid assessment of physical techniques was near impossible.

Arma Training has addressed these issues with our unique online training programs. These programs consist primarily of short videos for each module of the course and a new technology is used to make it possible to perform valid skill assessments.

In addition to a video, each module includes written materials to review and a short quiz, which must be passed before proceeding. Then, at the end of the course, students are required to take a written examination and complete a series of practical exercises, which is where our proprietary technology comes in. The course experience is very much like being in a classroom with the instructor.

All of our online courses are credentialed through Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) in Green Bay, WI – one of the top public safety college programs in the country. Arma Training clients enroll as students at NWTC and receive a college certificate upon satisfactory completion of the course. Therefore, certifications are issued by Arma Training, NWTC and, in some cases, a product’s manufacturer.

For most of our courses there are two levels: Basic Certification and an Instructor Certification.

The Basic Certification courses can be taken by any professional and the certification received is valid for 12 months from the date of course completion. At that point, the professional must repeat the course in order to be re-certified for another 12 months.

The Instructor Certification courses can only be taken by professionals who have completed the online Basic Certification course within 6 months

The Instructor Re-Certification courses can only be taken by professionals who have attended the associated live program taught by Dave Young within the last seven years (a copy of your certificate must be submitted as part of the registration process).

Instructor Certifications and Re-certifications are valid for 36 months from the date of course completion. At that point, to renew this certification, the professional must attend a live Arma Training program. The certification received from the live program will then be valid for 48 months.
