Corrections Training Programs

ARMA’s corrections-training programs were developed by correction officers for corrections officers — with an emphasis on how to deal with real-life physical confrontations in correctional facilities.

There comes a time in every correctional officer’s life when they have to flip the switch from controlling a subject to fighting for their life — and preparing for these situations is where Dave’s programs excel.

His training applies the tactical understanding to enable any officer to work within their own physical limitations (not all of us are 25 and in great physical shape) and to operate within existing legal limitations.

For example, trainers who have never directly supervised inmates and been in positions where they are outnumbered 10 to 1 with just a radio handset of keys on your duty belt have a hard time understanding the tactics needed to work effectively in a correctional facility and deal with legal issues of force-on-force options.

Anatomically correct — that’s the key to understanding how to physically control a subject who is being passive or combative. In other words, it is critically important to control subjects without bending, twisting and torturing the limbs in a way that could cause injury.  This control is achieved by apply anatomically correct techniques that require compression and positioning of the limb without reducing blood flow and circulation or effecting the breathing of a subject being controlled.

These techniques do not require the acceptance of pain to be effective – therefore we can explain in court that the injury a subject may have received was from the level of resistance and not from the application of a technique.
