About Us

ARMA Training is comprised of a group of professionals who are currently working in, retired or part of the law enforcement, corrections, security and military communities, with over 50 years of combined training and experience.

We operate under a motto we adopted in 1992, “Providing real world solutions for real world problems.” Our training is a series of specialized law enforcement training programs that provide hands-on, realistic scenarios to prepare participants for critical decision-making when real-life confrontations arise.

Instructors bring real life experience into the class and, through a variety of training methods, enable the students to reach their desired goals.

We understand that not all officers are created equal. This allows us to teach each student how to work within their own physical limitations and, by using individual evaluations, learn how to apply their knowledge first hand.

Basic programs are one to three days and consist of lectures & demonstrations, hands on practical exercises, skills building drills and a day of testing, which includes written examination, static closed skill testing, and a final live confrontation simulation.

Instructor programs are typically 5 days and consist of lectures & demonstrations, student-base line testing, hands on practical exercises, skills building drills, individual sub-skills exercises and a day of testing, which includes a written examination, instructor teach backs, static closed skill testing, and a final live confrontation simulation.

Basic Certifications are valid for 1 years, Basic Instructor Certifications are valid for 3 years, and Instructor-Trainer Certifications (Master Trainers) are valid for 4 years.

In 2010, Dave Young — the Founder and Director of Arma Training — joined forces with two other nationally-recognized defense trainers to form Vistelar Training Group, a training organization with the mission to make the general public safe and able to defend themselves if attacked.
